Active Tourism

If you’re looking for a way to get the most out of Alghero’s timeless atmosphere by exploring the untainted natural environment or the sea, the city has everything that is required to satisfy your thirst.

For those who love to climb, there is the Via del Cabirol, one of the most exciting "vie ferrate" (mountain routes equipped with fixed cables, stemples, ladders and bridges) in the area. This 800-metre climb allows you to scale the imposing sheer cliffs of the Capo Caccia promontory, and you can bring your adventure to a close at Neptune’s Caves ("Grotte di Nettuno" in Italian).

If, on the other hand, your passion is mountain biking, there is a multitude of routes throughout the Porto Conte Nature Reserve, Punta Giglio and Monte Doglia. These trails are calibrated on the basis of their level of difficulty, from the off-road trail for specialists to the gentle ride through Alghero on city bikes for the less adventurous.

To get as close as possible to the natural world, you can opt for an excursion into the wild either on foot or on horseback.

As you move along the southern coast, you can savour from above the breathtaking spectacle of the Alghero-Bosa coastline by paragliding in tandem or on your own. The take-off strip is located in La Siesta.

If the sea is your favoured environment, in Alghero you will be in your element, since the area affords myriad opportunities for everything from canoeing and surfing to windsurfing, diving and snorkelling.

Last but not least, you may enjoy a trip by dinghy, motor boat or sail boat.
