Monte Doglia

At 437 metres, Monte Doglia is the highest mountain in the Nurra area. Having reached the foot of the promontory, you can choose from a range of ways to discover this marvellous part of the world: trekking, on horseback or – the most comfortable option – by car.

Crossing through the thick Mediterranean vegetation, which conceals numerous traces of the Second World War, you can easily reach the panoramic area that leads to the military observation point.

From here, you can savour a unique view of the bay, taking in everything from Capo Marangiu to the Argentiera cliffs, as well as the flatlands that, some distance away, play host to Olmedo and Sassari.

How to get there
From Alghero, head towards Fertilia and, once you have passed it, take a left towards the road marked as "Strada Statale (SS) 291", in the direction of Santa Maria La Palma. Proceed for a couple of kilometres, then take a left, following the signs for Località Arenosu. There are numerous B&Bs in this area.

Mountain bike excursions
If you like mountain biking, Porto Conte Escursioni, led by experienced local guides and SIMB*-qualified instructors, offers 5 trails that cover the entire area of the Reserve, including Punta Giglio and Monte Doglia. These trails are calibrated on the basis of their level of difficulty, from the off-road trail for specialists to the gentle ride through Alghero on city bikes for the less adventurous.
