Arca di Noè Reserve

For lovers of nature and animals, another interesting destination near Alghero is the Arca di Noè Reserve.

Immersed within the Porto Conte State Forest (in the Prigionette district to be precise), the Reserve extends across a promontory that affords a singular wealth of flora and fauna. Here you are sure to enjoy getting up close and personal with species at risk of extinction such as the griffon vulture, the peregrine falcon and the shearwater, and further inland, where the thick pine forest alternates with Mediterranean maquis, you will come across the Sardinian partridge, the imperial falcon, hares, wolves, boar and deer.

How to get here
Starting from Alghero, take the road marked as "127 bis" heading towards Porto Conte. Once you reach the junction for Capo Caccia, take a left and head for Capo Caccia. After a few kilometres, you will reach the district called Le Prigionette. The entrance to the Reserve is visible on the right and is clearly signposted.

Opening times
Working days 8am - 4pm; Sundays and public holidays 8am - 5pm

The Cabirol Trail, between the earth and the heavens
For lovers of mountain climbing, one of the most exciting "vie ferrate" (mountain routes equipped with fixed cables, stemples, ladders and bridges) in the area is the Cabirol, an 800-metre trail on the cliffs of Capo Caccia – a breathtaking experience that will see you suspended between the earth and the heavens. This climb should only be attempted if you are accompanied by qualified guides.
